¿Qué es el adoctrinamiento revolucionario? Valentín Arenas y sus Flechazos para Reflexionar Publicado el 13.04.2008 21:29Por Valentín Arenas Amigo
Es una enseñanza que tiene muy graves consecuencias. Cuando su hijo es adoctrinado sale por completo de su control como padre porque se lo roban al cambiarle su manera de pensar y pasa a pertenecer al Estado y al partido oficial. Y si es emocional puede llegar a denunciar, inclusive, a sus padres de ser enemigos del régimen e ir estos presos o quedar fichados. En Cuba esto sucedió. Cuando su hijo es adoctrinado le sustituyen el amor por el odio como promotor de su progreso personal en una sociedad que es socialista y si no queda bien adoctrinado entonces su acceso a la Universidad le será negado y queda excluido también de ser empleado por el Estado porque no es un ciudadano confiable. Así entra a vivir en un submundo o "aparteid" y se convierte en un extra terrestre dentro de su propia tierra. Un robot. Si esto le parece que es exagerado entonces hable con un polaco, un húngaro o un cubano y pregúnteles a ellos.
ESTE COMUNISMO "DEMOCRATICO" quedó confirmado primero por la decisión del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ) de archivar la denuncia del diputado Wilmer Azuaje que involucra a la familia de Chávez y, posteriormente, con la designación por el propio Tribunal de Isaías Rodríguez como conjuez de la Corte, con lo cual se intenta protegerlo contra cualquier acción judicial en su contra. El asesinato de Anderson aún no está aclarado después de varios años, pero estas dos últimas actuaciones del T.S.J. demuestran que cuando se quiere el sistema judicial sí se mueve rápidamente. Esto es lo que sucede en un régimen que se dice democrático pero su ideología es comunista. Un verdadero sancocho…de mentiras.
LÍDER ÚNICO VS. REGIONALES
El principal adversario de los candidatos oficiales a gobernadores o alcaldes (en noviembre) es el pertenecer a una organización política como el Partido Socialista Único Venezolano (PSUV) donde la democracia y el pluralismo se publicitan mucho pero una sola persona es el líder único que lo decide todo. Cuando eso ocurre se le impide crecer a los candidatos quienes son vistos como "muñecos" manejados desde Caracas y crece, en cambio, la simpatía del elector hacía los líderes regionales y locales que tienen luz propia. Este, entre otros, es un factor que favorecerá a los candidatos opositores en Noviembre y perjudicará a los oficialistas que son vistos como pálidas Lunas que solo reflejan la luz del Sol único: el Autócrata. Esto confirma que es falso eso de la democracia participativa pues hasta los candidatos son seleccionados por el Jefe Supremo.
SIDOR ESTATIZADO Y LOS TRABAJADORES INDEFENSOS
SIDOR (Siderúrgica del Orinoco) en manos de accionistas privados tiene mejor acceso a la tecnología y sus trabajadores cuentan con la intervención del Estado para proteger sus intereses ante cualquier problema. SIDOR en manos del Estado tiene asegurada una mala administración y sus trabajadores tendrán que "llamar a María" si quieren mejor salario pues el Estado es el propietario. Por eso el destino de SIDOR será el mismo que el de PDVSA, el de CANTV, el de EDC, los fundos invadidos y las cementeras. Que viva la revolución y que no caiga el precio del petróleo porque todos tendremos que llamar a María.
UN FUERTE CONTRASTE
Mientras el régimen se atraganta tratando de digerir empresas claves y fundos privados en producción, la inseguridad sigue en ascenso, la seguridad social y personal en descenso, la escasez y mayor precio de los alimentos continúa, la impopularidad del gobierno crece, los hospitales no funcionan y la corrupción se acredita como éxito la denuncia de Wilmer Azuaje contra la familia del Presidente que no es la familia presidencial sino otra diferente. Juego de palabras? O palabras para el juego?
CARRITO CHOCÓN NO SÓLO CHOCA CON EL IMPERIO Y LA CIA sino también contra los maestros y los padres de familia, contra la democracia participativa que publicita mucho pero que la excluyó del PSUV para sustituirla por el dedo-elector; contra el "Soberano" mismo que negó el proyecto socialista el 2 de diciembre y ahora se lo quieren pasar por los caminos verdes, etc. Todas estas cosas tienen como consecuencia menos votos para las elecciones en noviembre cuando los candidatos del PSUV no serán aquellos que quieran en el respectivo Municipio o región sino aquellos impuestos por el autócrata, a dedo, desde Caracas cuya popularidad va palo abajo. Mala sombra para estos candidatos artificiales…
QUE SE DEFIENDAN POR SU CUENTA, fue la respuesta del Teniente Coronel cuando un diputado denunció a su familia de cosas feas. Tomen nota de esto sus colaboradores más cercanos que no sean familiares. ¿Si esto hacen con el árbol verde, qué pueden esperar tanto árbol seco que anda por ahí beneficiándose a la sombra de la revolución? ¿Han pensado alguna vez en esto? Valen la pena que lo piense… antes de que sea demasiado tarde. Curarse en salud es la receta.

Venezuela necesita que sus dirigentes vuelvan a las fuentes que alimentan la acción pública en función de las necesidades de terceros dentro de una visión integral de país. Es decir, la política no puede limitarse solamente a los hechos electorales, ni podemos seguir confundiendo democracia con elecciones. No le quito importancia a esto. Sería el último mortal en negar el valor de lo electoral como instrumento para concretar los valores de la libertad y para que la voluntad popular pueda expresarse de la mejor manera. Especial validez tiene este criterio en condiciones de normalidad democrática. Lamentablemente no es el caso actual, por lo que se necesitan esfuerzos y acciones superiores que trascienden lo estrictamente electoral.
Sin descuidar nada y desarrollando actividad en todos los frentes, atendiendo todos los escenarios de lucha incluido el electoral, es necesario que la política vuelva a ser una actividad de servicio y no una forma de vida, calificada o no, que permite a quienes están en el oficio acceder a unos ingresos y mantener una jerarquía social apropiada a sus propósitos. Es indispensable para aspirar a una unidad sincera sin la cual la lucha por la liberación nacional mantendrá obstáculos que podrían ser superados desde perspectivas diferentes. De mantener el cuadro actual y el estilo de hacer política que se ha impuesto, continuaremos viendo en el campo opositor una simple rebatiña por espacios de poder, un afán de cuoteo electoral que encaja perfectamente dentro de la estrategia continuista del régimen.
Se impone a todos los partidos, grupos electorales y personalidades aspirantes una dosis extraordinaria de generosidad y desprendimiento para entender que están en juego demasiadas cosas. Que la unidad puede ser dinámica y diferenciada cuando están claros los objetivos comunes y dentro del afán de lograr que el régimen dure lo menos posible. Quienes trabajan en el frente electoral tienen que colocar en mínimo sus aspiraciones y buscar entendimientos serios que permitan unificar las opciones. Lo que se ve, para el día de hoy a esta hora, es vergonzoso. Un carnaval absurdo de campañas prematuras sin sentido ni contenido que corresponda a las grandes expectativas nacionales.
Esta década perdida obliga a la dirigencia a presentar una sólida alternativa hacia el futuro inmediato. Esto se desmorona. Puede desplomarse en cualquier momento y hasta por circunstancias que escapan a la observación desprevenida. Garantizar que Venezuela no caerá en la anarquía, ni dará un salto en el vacío, sino que asumirá con firmeza y claridad las tareas del renacimiento democrático, es obligante para el liderazgo. Para ello hay que apartar todo cuanto pueda separarnos, dejar de lado lo pequeño, las mezquindades que alimentan ambiciones desmedidas de personas o de grupos. Grandeza, humildad, servicio auténtico y amplitud para abrirle camino a las nuevas generaciones, son reclamos inaplazables.

EXPLOTACIÓN. Una de las creencias que con más devoción profesan los representantes del régimen reinante en Venezuela es que la base de cualquier empresa se encuentra en "la explotación del hombre por el hombre", situación lamentable que ellos se sienten destinados a abolir.
Lo que sorprende de esta convicción no es tanto su falsedad evidente, sino la tenacidad con que permanece en la mente, el discurso y ejecutorías del régimen, resistentes a toda prueba. Cierto que en vida de Marx los socialistas alemanes ya habían constatado que no se producía la polarización social entre la extrema riqueza de los cada vez menos frente a la pauperización de los cada vez más; pero eso no hace mella en la fantasía oficialista.
Los socialistas nunca han encontrado los vasos comunicantes que imponen que el enriquecimiento de unos no se produzca sino en la exacta medida del empobrecimiento de otros; pero no conciben que se pueda prosperar juntos o bien arruinarse al unísono. Tiene que haber una contraposición, un contraste, una contradicción que es lo que llaman "dialéctica".
Está a la vista que las personas que trabajan en una empresa prosperan junto con ella, al contrario de los que se quedan fuera, desempleados, que se marginan cada vez más. Si fuera cierta aquella teoría, sería una paradoja que los explotados progresen, mientras que los que no lo son se envilecen.
Más paradójico es aún que la única medida específicamente laboral de este gobierno sea la declaración de inamovilidad laboral, tan reiterada que se ha vuelto indefinida. O sea, que los empresarios están obligados a explotar para siempre a los mismos trabajadores y nunca les podrán dar la libertad.
Los sindicalistas descubrieron hace siglos que les conviene tener puestos de trabajo y hasta comerciar con ellos; pero no les cabe en la cabeza que sea preferible quedarse fuera de la empresa. Si esto así, entonces resulta que es mejor ser explotado que no serlo.
El problema de las empresas socialistas de trabajadores emancipados, en las que nadie saca provecho del trabajo de otro, no es sólo que no existan, sino que si existieran carecerían por completo de sentido. No serían empresas sino algo como clubes de observadores de aves.
Finalmente, nadie ha podido explicar porqué la explotación es "capitalista", pero las empresas que caen bajo el dominio "socialista" no serían explotadoras, aunque los trabajadores hagan exactamente lo mismo que en aquellas, pero no tienen otros beneficios salariales, organización sindical independiente, derecho de huelga y contratación colectiva, participación en las utilidades (porque no las hay), libertad política y, si se les antoja, mandar para el carajo al patrono.
EXPROPIACIÓN. Sin duda la palabra más socorrida por los socialistas; pero no en su sentido jurídico de despojar al propietario de algún bien mediante el pago de justa indemnización, por causa de utilidad pública o social, según reza el dogma socialdemócrata.
En el nuevo socialismo es más que un abracadabra que cura todos los males, también puede ser un castigo por falta de obsecuencia política, un arma de ataque contra el imperialismo, un modo de "quebrarle el espinazo al capital transnacional", un extraño mecanismo para satisfacer demandas laborales, para terminar en un desquite por viejos agravios familiares y hasta conyugales.
La excepción llamada "por causa de utilidad pública" es una aberración casi tan insultante como la expropiación que supuestamente fundamenta, porque como nunca se ha definido qué es, ni un procedimiento racional para establecerla, ni sus límites, resulta que cualquier cosa puede volverse de "utilidad pública" según el capricho del político interesado.
Lo primero que llama la atención de la propensión socialista a expropiar los bienes ajenos, es su incapacidad para producir nada propio. ¿Por qué no hacen sus propias fábricas, haciendas, clínicas, universidades, edificios, radios y televisoras, sino que por una suerte de impulso interno irresistible se mueven a tomar por asalto lo que les ha costado tanto esfuerzo a los demás?
Lo más curioso es que acompañan este robo sistemático con la descalificación de los verdaderos productores, que a sus ojos aparecen no como víctimas de las tropelías, sino como explotadores, auténticos ladrones de los bienes que ha producido "la sociedad en su conjunto", de la que en algún momento los productores dejaron de formar parte, no se sabe cuándo, ni como.
Este punto es crucial, porque dentro de la distorsión mental socialista, todo el que es propietario de algo, de algún modo misterioso ha despojado a aquellos que no lo tienen. De manera que si usted tiene una casa, para ellos es culpable de que otro no tenga casa. Si tiene educación, es culpable de que otro no tenga educación. Y así, hasta lo inaudito.
Y este es la razón por la que las políticas socialistas están condenadas en la realidad al fracaso: porque han decidido de una manera estrictamente política que es más fácil despojar a unos pocos de lo que tienen que darle a muchos lo que no tienen. Si bien esto no le va a resolver el problema a nadie, al menos le otorga la satisfacción sustitutiva de que si unos no tienen, pues, nadie tiene.
LO GRATUITO. Ojala no esté lejos el día en que las cátedras de economía de nuestras universidades, hoy completamente vencidas por la ideología marxista, comiencen sus programas con un tema que le explique a las generaciones futuras que las cosas no pueden ser gratis.
Y es de lo más curioso que los socialistas hayan caído en esto, porque si algo pretende el marxismo es enseñar que la economía es el factor dominante en la sociedad y determina todas las otras actividades humanas, incluso espirituales.
¿A quién se le ocurriría que los bienes y servicios puedan ser "gratuitos"? Incluso y quizás precisamente los más costosos, como educación, vivienda, salud, hoy corrientemente son acompañados por ese adjetivo.
Justo es reconocer que podríamos estar ante una engañifa del lenguaje, porque los socialistas ortodoxos seguramente saben que las cosas cuestan mucho y lo que quieren decir en realidad es que van a ser pagadas no por cada uno, sino por el colectivo de la sociedad o su representación, el Estado Social.
El problema es que los militares metidos a socialistas no conocen de sutilezas y parece que han asumido que las cosas sí tienen que ser gratis, de toda gratuidad, porque sino se contaminan de interés, de lucro, de especulación.
Quizás para los partidos socialdemócratas resultaba extremadamente arduo en un principio explicar sus programas de mejoramiento social y optaron por la vía fácil de acuñar consignas, un poco irresponsables, pero comprensibles para "la masa", con lo que nos han traído a este atolladero en que nadie comprende cuál es la realidad efectiva de la cosa y hay que esforzarse por descubrirla.
Lo gratuito se ha convertido en una bandera de la peor politiquería populista y se hace extensivo no solo a los grandes temas de beneficencia social, sino también para las entradas a un parque de diversiones, medios de transporte y hasta un pobre pescador tendrá por ley que entregar gratis lo que pesque.
El llegadero es pretender que la gente trabaje de gratis y regale lo que produce con gran esfuerzo y aunque se llame "trabajo voluntario" y se inscriba en un contexto "socialista", esto sí que es explotación, despojo y abuso de poder.
Los oficiales, que están acostumbrados a usar a los reclutas de escolta, para que les laven las camionetas, poden el jardín y lleven los niños al colegio sin pagarles nada, no deberían olvidar que al final del día eso también lo paga el Estado, es decir, todos los ciudadanos, sin sumar lo que les está costando en imagen, que también es gravoso.
COMPUTADORAS. El comandante en jefe entrega unas cuantas PC a una escuela y proclama con sumo desparpajo ante unos desprevenidos niños que "esto es el socialismo: Que no sólo los ricos tengan computadoras sino también ustedes, los pobres".
Las sorpresas son múltiples. Además de encontrarnos súbitamente incluidos en el mundo de "los ricos" por tener una computadora; sin pensarlo mucho nos damos cuenta que quien ha inventado, producido, comercializado y llevado a cada una de nuestras mesas las populares PC es justamente el denostado capitalismo y el despreciable mercado.
Bill Gates (y Microsoft, una empresa mercantil, capitalista), el hombre más rico del mundo, lo que no impide que se le considere como un filántropo, es el autor del milagro. Parece que buscar el beneficio personal no es necesariamente contradictorio con el bien común, sino el medio más eficiente para conseguirlo.
Pero eso no es lo más grave. La verdad es que en la Unión de Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas estaba prohibido el estudio de la cibernética porque se la consideraba "idealismo". Desde el punto de vista materialista, no había modo de lidiar con el ciberespacio.
Desde sus puntos de vista, quizás tenían razón e incluso los creadores del Internet no podrían responder dónde está, sólo dirían: "sin embargo funciona". Respuesta que era completamente inaceptable para la dogmática Academia de Ciencias de la URSS.
De manera que si fuera por el socialismo, la revolución informática ni siquiera sería concebible y las computadoras no las tendrían ni los ricos ni los pobres, como ocurre con todo en el socialismo real.
Estos pocos puntos dan una rápida idea de qué es el socialismo del siglo XXI: una mezcla indigerible de temeridad, ignorancia, voluntarismo, mentiras y mala fe, todo aderezado con una desmedida ambición de poder absoluto.
Salir de un trance como este tampoco será gratis, como predican los otros socialistas, los de la leal oposición a su majestad.

LO GRATUITO. Ojala no esté lejos el día en que las cátedras de economía de nuestras universidades, hoy completamente vencidas por la ideología marxista, comiencen sus programas con un tema que le explique a las generaciones futuras que las cosas no pueden ser gratis.
Y es de lo más curioso que los socialistas hayan caído en esto, porque si algo pretende el marxismo es enseñar que la economía es el factor dominante en la sociedad y determina todas las otras actividades humanas, incluso espirituales.
¿A quién se le ocurriría que los bienes y servicios puedan ser "gratuitos"? Incluso y quizás precisamente los más costosos, como educación, vivienda, salud, hoy corrientemente son acompañados por ese adjetivo.
Justo es reconocer que podríamos estar ante una engañifa del lenguaje, porque los socialistas ortodoxos seguramente saben que las cosas cuestan mucho y lo que quieren decir en realidad es que van a ser pagadas no por cada uno, sino por el colectivo de la sociedad o su representación, el Estado Social.
El problema es que los militares metidos a socialistas no conocen de sutilezas y parece que han asumido que las cosas sí tienen que ser gratis, de toda gratuidad, porque sino se contaminan de interés, de lucro, de especulación.
Quizás para los partidos socialdemócratas resultaba extremadamente arduo en un principio explicar sus programas de mejoramiento social y optaron por la vía fácil de acuñar consignas, un poco irresponsables, pero comprensibles para "la masa", con lo que nos han traído a este atolladero en que nadie comprende cuál es la realidad efectiva de la cosa y hay que esforzarse por descubrirla.
Lo gratuito se ha convertido en una bandera de la peor politiquería populista y se hace extensivo no solo a los grandes temas de beneficencia social, sino también para las entradas a un parque de diversiones, medios de transporte y hasta un pobre pescador tendrá por ley que entregar gratis lo que pesque.
El llegadero es pretender que la gente trabaje de gratis y regale lo que produce con gran esfuerzo y aunque se llame "trabajo voluntario" y se inscriba en un contexto "socialista", esto sí que es explotación, despojo y abuso de poder.
Los oficiales, que están acostumbrados a usar a los reclutas de escolta, para que les laven las camionetas, poden el jardín y lleven los niños al colegio sin pagarles nada, no deberían olvidar que al final del día eso también lo paga el Estado, es decir, todos los ciudadanos, sin sumar lo que les está costando en imagen, que también es gravoso.
COMPUTADORAS. El comandante en jefe entrega unas cuantas PC a una escuela y proclama con sumo desparpajo ante unos desprevenidos niños que "esto es el socialismo: Que no sólo los ricos tengan computadoras sino también ustedes, los pobres".
Las sorpresas son múltiples. Además de encontrarnos súbitamente incluidos en el mundo de "los ricos" por tener una computadora; sin pensarlo mucho nos damos cuenta que quien ha inventado, producido, comercializado y llevado a cada una de nuestras mesas las populares PC es justamente el denostado capitalismo y el despreciable mercado.
Bill Gates (y Microsoft, una empresa mercantil, capitalista), el hombre más rico del mundo, lo que no impide que se le considere como un filántropo, es el autor del milagro. Parece que buscar el beneficio personal no es necesariamente contradictorio con el bien común, sino el medio más eficiente para conseguirlo.
Pero eso no es lo más grave. La verdad es que en la Unión de Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas estaba prohibido el estudio de la cibernética porque se la consideraba "idealismo". Desde el punto de vista materialista, no había modo de lidiar con el ciberespacio.
Desde sus puntos de vista, quizás tenían razón e incluso los creadores del Internet no podrían responder dónde está, sólo dirían: "sin embargo funciona". Respuesta que era completamente inaceptable para la dogmática Academia de Ciencias de la URSS.
De manera que si fuera por el socialismo, la revolución informática ni siquiera sería concebible y las computadoras no las tendrían ni los ricos ni los pobres, como ocurre con todo en el socialismo real.
Estos pocos puntos dan una rápida idea de qué es el socialismo del siglo XXI: una mezcla indigerible de temeridad, ignorancia, voluntarismo, mentiras y mala fe, todo aderezado con una desmedida ambición de poder absoluto.
Salir de un trance como este tampoco será gratis, como predican los otros socialistas, los de la leal oposición a su majestad.

Is Hugo Chavez Friends with FARC?

A spectacular find may prove what many have long suspected. E-mails and other files found on a FARC laptop in the jungles of Ecuador show that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez may have close relations with the terror group.
When police stormed a house near San José, the capital of Costa Rica, they knew exactly what they were looking for. Immediately, the officers headed for a backroom where they found an old safe packed with bundles of dollars -- wrapped like cocaine in plastic.
Many of the bills were stuck together; some were already so rotten that they could hardly be counted. But the police knew the sum anyway: $480,000 (€305,000). The cash had been mentioned by Raul Reyes -- the number-two man in the Colombian Marxist guerrilla organization known as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) -- in an e-mail to Rodrigo Granda, known as the "chancellor" of the rebel group. Granda was to use the money to finance international activities. The address where the stash was to be found was also mentioned in the message.
The $480,000 e-mail was one of hundreds of documents found on Reyes’ laptop. Colombian troops had killed the sleeping guerrilla leader in early March during a pre-dawn bombing raid on a FARC camp in Ecuador -- and secured the laptop. It was found together with three other computers and a number of compact discs in a suitcase that survived the attack.
30 Kilos of Uranium
Interpol specialists are currently analyzing the recovered data. Some of the information has been encrypted, but most of the files are easily accessible. Reyes felt safe in his camp, less than two kilometers (1.25 miles) from the Colombian border. In roughly two weeks, Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble plans to announce the results of the investigation. But one thing is already clear: the laptops contain a political bombshell. They hold detailed information on FARC's relations outside of Colombia, the group' finances, their smuggling routes and records for cocaine deliveries. There are also details of bomb attacks carried out be the group.
The seized files also allowed police to track down 30 kilos (66 pounds) of uranium, which had been hidden in a village near the Colombian capital Bogotá and possibly belonged to the guerrillas. Although the material is not suitable for manufacturing bombs, it could be used to produce special ammunition capable of piercing armored vehicles.

The government in the Venezuelan capital Caracas also apparently offered the rebels a share in the country's oil business and promised decommissioned arms from the country’s own army.
Chavez insists that he has never sent the rebels money or arms. After the saber rattling with Colombian leader Uribe, he is portraying himself as a man of peace. But former rebels and intelligence experts confirm the connection with the guerrillas.
Chavez discovered his sympathy for the Marxist rebels in the early 1990s. At the time, he was a member of a group of rebellious officers who drew their ideological inspiration from the Marxist insurgent movements of the 1960s and '70s in Colombia and Venezuela. Following an attempted coup against then President Carlos Andres Perez, Chavez landed in prison. A cash injection from the FARC allegedly helped him out of his financial squeeze at the time.

It was a boon for the guerrillas when Chavez was swept to power in a democratic election 10 years ago. Following decades of isolation, the Colombian rebels had finally gained a partner in their key neighboring country, someone who knew how to mobilize the left throughout Latin America.
In the late 1990s, while then Colombian President Andres Pastrana was negotiating a prisoner exchange with the FARC, the Venezuelans were conducting “parallel negotiations” with the organization, says a former rebel fighter. The informant, who goes by the code name Manual Garcia, turned himself in to the authorities four years ago. “In Caracas they believed that the FARC could rise to power by peaceful means -- just like Chavez in Venezuela,” he said.
Heavily Armed Paramilitaries
But the negotiations with Pastrana broke down, and Chavez allegedly opened up Venezuela to FARC as a refuge. Intelligence officials in Colombia maintain that Chavez is planning an ideological and military alliance with the FARC “to neutralize the military as a democratic institution and merge it with the militia movement.”
In effect, the Venezuelan leader has been working for years to create parallel power structures within his own country. A failed coup six years ago only served to heighten his distrust of democratic institutions. Chavez had arms distributed to 100,000 civilians, who were to stand at his side in the event of an “invasion.” A large number of slums in Caracas are now patrolled by heavily armed paramilitary units.
Colombian guerrillas from the FARC reportedly also train the pro-Chavez militia that operates near the border. Intelligence sources report that there are seven FARC advance patrols operating within Venezuela. They supervise the smuggling of arms and cocaine.
“The FARC moves in the neighboring countries like a fish in water,” says former guerrilla Garcia. The 77-year-old FARC leader Marulanda, guerrilla leader Ivan Marquez and a number of mid-level commanders are in Venezuela, according to Colombian government sources.

High-profile efforts by Chavez in early January to secure the release of renowned FARC hostages have thrust the jungle guerrilla group back into the international limelight. But without backing from Caracas, they would have been defeated long ago, maintains the government in Bogotá -- after all, the rebels are under extreme pressure.
'Drug State'
A number of their leading commanders have been killed over the past few months. And more than that, up to 200 men desert every month, no longer seeing a future in the armed struggle. Security experts estimate that over the past few years the number of guerrillas has been reduced by half to roughly 8,000. The majority of Colombians now believe that the FARC can actually be defeated militarily.
It is primarily thanks to their lucrative revenues from the drug trade that the rebels still have access to money and arms. Venezuela also plays a key role here. Authorities on drug trafficking say that approximately 30 percent of Colombian cocaine is smuggled through Venezuela on its way to Europe and the US. From their military bases on the border, Colombian soldiers observe dozens of small aircraft every day flying over Venezuelan territory, headed for Central America and Mexico.
“Venezuela is the drug trafficking mecca,” confirmed Colombian narcotics boss Luis Hernando Gomez Bustamante following his arrest last year. Former rebels say, however, that the Venezuelan authorities are directly involved in the trade. European diplomats in Caracas see a real danger in the country degenerating into a “drug state” under Chavez.
The latest revelations on the close ties between Chavez and the FARC have alarmed Washington. The White House is considering placing Venezuela on its list of countries that support terrorism. But the resulting economic sanctions could have a boomerang effect. The US imports 12 percent of its oil from Venezuela.

The government in the Venezuelan capital Caracas also apparently offered the rebels a share in the country's oil business and promised decommissioned arms from the country’s own army.
Chavez insists that he has never sent the rebels money or arms. After the saber rattling with Colombian leader Uribe, he is portraying himself as a man of peace. But former rebels and intelligence experts confirm the connection with the guerrillas.
Chavez discovered his sympathy for the Marxist rebels in the early 1990s. At the time, he was a member of a group of rebellious officers who drew their ideological inspiration from the Marxist insurgent movements of the 1960s and '70s in Colombia and Venezuela. Following an attempted coup against then President Carlos Andres Perez, Chavez landed in prison. A cash injection from the FARC allegedly helped him out of his financial squeeze at the time.

In the late 1990s, while then Colombian President Andres Pastrana was negotiating a prisoner exchange with the FARC, the Venezuelans were conducting “parallel negotiations” with the organization, says a former rebel fighter. The informant, who goes by the code name Manual Garcia, turned himself in to the authorities four years ago. “In Caracas they believed that the FARC could rise to power by peaceful means -- just like Chavez in Venezuela,” he said.
Heavily Armed Paramilitaries
But the negotiations with Pastrana broke down, and Chavez allegedly opened up Venezuela to FARC as a refuge. Intelligence officials in Colombia maintain that Chavez is planning an ideological and military alliance with the FARC “to neutralize the military as a democratic institution and merge it with the militia movement.”
In effect, the Venezuelan leader has been working for years to create parallel power structures within his own country. A failed coup six years ago only served to heighten his distrust of democratic institutions. Chavez had arms distributed to 100,000 civilians, who were to stand at his side in the event of an “invasion.” A large number of slums in Caracas are now patrolled by heavily armed paramilitary units.
Colombian guerrillas from the FARC reportedly also train the pro-Chavez militia that operates near the border. Intelligence sources report that there are seven FARC advance patrols operating within Venezuela. They supervise the smuggling of arms and cocaine.
“The FARC moves in the neighboring countries like a fish in water,” says former guerrilla Garcia. The 77-year-old FARC leader Marulanda, guerrilla leader Ivan Marquez and a number of mid-level commanders are in Venezuela, according to Colombian government sources.

High-profile efforts by Chavez in early January to secure the release of renowned FARC hostages have thrust the jungle guerrilla group back into the international limelight. But without backing from Caracas, they would have been defeated long ago, maintains the government in Bogotá -- after all, the rebels are under extreme pressure.
'Drug State'
A number of their leading commanders have been killed over the past few months. And more than that, up to 200 men desert every month, no longer seeing a future in the armed struggle. Security experts estimate that over the past few years the number of guerrillas has been reduced by half to roughly 8,000. The majority of Colombians now believe that the FARC can actually be defeated militarily.
It is primarily thanks to their lucrative revenues from the drug trade that the rebels still have access to money and arms. Venezuela also plays a key role here. Authorities on drug trafficking say that approximately 30 percent of Colombian cocaine is smuggled through Venezuela on its way to Europe and the US. From their military bases on the border, Colombian soldiers observe dozens of small aircraft every day flying over Venezuelan territory, headed for Central America and Mexico.
“Venezuela is the drug trafficking mecca,” confirmed Colombian narcotics boss Luis Hernando Gomez Bustamante following his arrest last year. Former rebels say, however, that the Venezuelan authorities are directly involved in the trade. European diplomats in Caracas see a real danger in the country degenerating into a “drug state” under Chavez.
The latest revelations on the close ties between Chavez and the FARC have alarmed Washington. The White House is considering placing Venezuela on its list of countries that support terrorism. But the resulting economic sanctions could have a boomerang effect. The US imports 12 percent of its oil from Venezuela.

Is Hugo Chavez Friends with FARC?

A spectacular find may prove what many have long suspected. E-mails and other files found on a FARC laptop in the jungles of Ecuador show that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez may have close relations with the terror group.
When police stormed a house near San José, the capital of Costa Rica, they knew exactly what they were looking for. Immediately, the officers headed for a backroom where they found an old safe packed with bundles of dollars -- wrapped like cocaine in plastic.
Many of the bills were stuck together; some were already so rotten that they could hardly be counted. But the police knew the sum anyway: $480,000 (€305,000). The cash had been mentioned by Raul Reyes -- the number-two man in the Colombian Marxist guerrilla organization known as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) -- in an e-mail to Rodrigo Granda, known as the "chancellor" of the rebel group. Granda was to use the money to finance international activities. The address where the stash was to be found was also mentioned in the message.
The $480,000 e-mail was one of hundreds of documents found on Reyes’ laptop. Colombian troops had killed the sleeping guerrilla leader in early March during a pre-dawn bombing raid on a FARC camp in Ecuador -- and secured the laptop. It was found together with three other computers and a number of compact discs in a suitcase that survived the attack.
30 Kilos of Uranium
Interpol specialists are currently analyzing the recovered data. Some of the information has been encrypted, but most of the files are easily accessible. Reyes felt safe in his camp, less than two kilometers (1.25 miles) from the Colombian border. In roughly two weeks, Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble plans to announce the results of the investigation. But one thing is already clear: the laptops contain a political bombshell. They hold detailed information on FARC's relations outside of Colombia, the group' finances, their smuggling routes and records for cocaine deliveries. There are also details of bomb attacks carried out be the group.
The seized files also allowed police to track down 30 kilos (66 pounds) of uranium, which had been hidden in a village near the Colombian capital Bogotá and possibly belonged to the guerrillas. Although the material is not suitable for manufacturing bombs, it could be used to produce special ammunition capable of piercing armored vehicles.

"Fill up your gas cans, fill up coffee cans, and fill up any empty containers you have."
According to my friend Dave (real name withheld to protect anonymity), a 30-year veteran of the refining industry, gasoline prices are about to go up... a lot.
Hard as it may be to believe for people spending $75 to fill up their SUVs, gasoline is actually cheap right now. It hasn't kept up with the soaring price of oil. This is a terrible situation for refineries. Since oil is the main expense of an independent refinery, business can't get much worse for them right now.
"We're only making money on diesel these days," Dave told me. "Our oil costs, even for the cheap stuff, are so high it's killing us."
My friend is getting killed because high oil prices drive down profit margins for the refining industry.
ConocoPhillips, which produces petroleum and converts it to gasoline and other refined products, had a terrible first quarter, mostly due to low refining margins. U.S. independent refiner Tesoro – which must buy the oil it refines – lost $86 million at just one facility in the fourth quarter of 2007... after earning $19 million the previous three months. Since November, Tesoro shares have been sliced in half.
Most investors would look at this depressed situation and run. But I see this as a huge opportunity...

Rarely does the price of a barrel of oil cost more than an equal amount of gasoline. It doesn't make sense. That's like a bushel of wheat becoming more expensive than the bread you could make from it.
But exactly that happened in March of this year. Take a look at this chart...
The Crack Spread Is Going From Bad to Less Bad for Refiners
This chart compares the price of a gallon of gasoline to a gallon of crude oil. In current dollars, the average crack spread has been roughly 1.25 – meaning for every dollar a refiner spent to buy oil, it profited 25 cents.
The line at zero represents that average. Whenever the spread is greater than zero, refiner margins are fat and the companies are raking in profits. When the line falls below zero, times are tough. Most of the time (nearly 70%) the spread never strays beyond plus or minus 1 on the chart.
As you can see, the spread is near its lowest point in the last 10 years. It's currently at -1.15 and has been as low as -2.39 in recent weeks – grossly out of whack. Simply put, things just can't get any worse for refiners... which means things can only get better. I think they'll get much better...
The summer driving season is coming. When kids are out of school, families love to pack up the minivan and drive to the mountains... or the beach... or the lake. It's as American as the New York Yankees.
I think refiners are going to use this opportunity to eke out a bit more margin than they made this winter. The price of gas is going up anyway (it has to), so why not tack on another nickel or dime per gallon for the house? Who's going to notice an extra 10¢ when gas is selling at $4 per gallon?
That may be rough on drivers, but it's great news for investors... A small improvement in the refiners' margins makes a huge difference in profits. And refiner shares directly reflect the change in margins. When refiners jack up the value of their products, their shares take off.
The gains can reach 30% in a matter of months. But remember, the spread is near its lowest point in the past decade, so gains from the coming rally could be even higher than times in the past.

It's a pretty short list of stocks to play a refiner rally. The largest pure player by far is Valero, with Tesoro, Sunoco, Holly, Western Refining, Frontier Oil, and CVR Energy representing a few other opportunities.

I think refiners are going to use this opportunity to eke out a bit more margin than they made this winter. The price of gas is going up anyway (it has to), so why not tack on another nickel or dime per gallon for the house? Who's going to notice an extra 10¢ when gas is selling at $4 per gallon?
That may be rough on drivers, but it's great news for investors... A small improvement in the refiners' margins makes a huge difference in profits. And refiner shares directly reflect the change in margins. When refiners jack up the value of their products, their shares take off.
The gains can reach 30% in a matter of months. But remember, the spread is near its lowest point in the past decade, so gains from the coming rally could be even higher than times in the past.

It's a pretty short list of stocks to play a refiner rally. The largest pure player by far is Valero, with Tesoro, Sunoco, Holly, Western Refining, Frontier Oil, and CVR Energy representing a few other opportunities.

Aprendiendo con Peña EsclusaPor: Olavo de Carvalho (*)
Los directores y miembros de la Asociación Comercial de Sao Paulo guardan, sin duda, buenos recuerdos de Alejandro Peña Esclusa, ex candidato a la Presidencia de Venezuela, quien en mayo de 2006 participó en el Seminario "Democracia, Libertad y el Imperio de la Ley", en la sede de la entidad, y allí hizo una impresionante exposición sobre los avances del comunismo en el continente, en especial sobre el poderío creciente del Foro de Sao Paulo (ver http://www.midiasemmascara.com.br/artigo.php?sid=4942 ).
Peña Esclusa no estaba acusado de ningún crimen, ni estaba bajo investigación. Sin embargo, necesitó una autorización especial de la Justicia de su país para poder viajar al Brasil. La exigencia de ese salvoconducto se debía exclusivamente a la estricta vigilancia que el gobierno venezolano comenzaba a ejercer en ese entonces sobre los enemigos reales o posibles del presidente Hugo Chávez. El hecho, en ese momento, sirvió de ilustración perfecta para las explicaciones que Peña Esclusa dio en Sao Paulo respecto a la eliminación progresiva de las libertades civiles y políticas bajo la dictadura de Chávez.
A diferencia de la audiencia presente en aquel memorable evento, los organizadores del "Foro Permanente por la Libertad", en El Salvador, tuvieron que contentarse con el brutal hecho, sin explicaciones, de que esta vez Alejandro Peña Esclusa le fue sumariamente prohibido salir de Venezuela. La vigilancia, que ya era abusiva e insultante al más alto grado, se transformó en control y represión ostensivos (ver edición del 17 de octubre de http://notalatina.blogspot.com ).
Aquellos que, frente a esta noticia, se sientan aliviados de vivir en Brasil en lugar de en Venezuela, no es preciso advertirles nada; el propio Peña Esclusa ya lo hizo: la dictadura de Chávez no es un fenómeno aislado, es apenas una manifestación local –un poco más avanzada en el tiempo– del plan estratégico más completo del Foro de Sao Paulo, destinando a transformar todo el continente en una unión de repúblicas socialistas, "reconquistando en América Latina lo que se perdió en Europa Oriental".
Y aquellos que continúen pensando que Lula es una alternativa a Chávez, la respuesta vino del propio Lula en persona, en su discurso del 2 de julio de 2005, en el décimoquinto aniversario del Foro de Sao Paulo, donde confesó que, en su condición de Presidente de la República, intervino activamente en la política venezolana, ayudando a consolidar el poder de aquel cachorro insensato por el cual siente afectos de padre y de protector (ver http://www.olavodecarvalho.org/semana/050926dc.htm). Ninguna persona es una alternativa para un mal que esa misma persona creó e insiste en alimentar.
La única diferencia entre Venezuela y Brasil es la siguiente. Venezuela es una vitrina y un globo de ensayo de la revolución castro-comunista latinoamericana. Allí se arriesga y se expone, para medir las reacciones internas y externas, y luego transmitir al resto del Foro de Sao Paulo las señales para las debidas correcciones y ajustes de estrategia general. Por el contrario, Brasil, cuyo presidente fue fundador y líder máximo del Foro, es el centro vivo de esa organización, la sede de su comando y de su Estado Mayor. Por eso mismo, debe ser resguardado de miradas intrusas, protegido bajo una densa capa de verborrea y de camuflajes tácticos, pareciendo inofensivo porque es justamente la fuente esencial del peligro.
Cualquiera que, examinando los documentos del Foro y confrontándolos con las acciones de sus líderes, no perciba eso con mucha claridad, debe ser considerado un amateur totalmente incapacitado para hacer los análisis políticos más elementales o, por el contrario, una fuente consciente y muy hábil de desinformación, al servicio de la subversión continental; en ambos casos alguien indigno de confianza. Se incluye en este lote a la mayoría de los comentaristas políticos de los medios nacionales, a los analistas iluminados que pontifican en la Escuela Superior de Guerra y a los consultores estratégicos al alcance de nuestro empresariado. La agudeza de un análisis político se mide por la previsión acertada del curso de los acontecimientos. Desde hace quince años estos individuos se esmeran en equivocarse, pero su credibilidad no parece disminuir en nada por eso.
Según un reportaje del Washington Post, investigaciones recientes en el área de la sicología demuestran que la mayor parte de los seres humanos –con sus reglas habituales de pensamiento– creen más fácilmente en una mentira coherente, que en una verdad que las contraríe. Ahora bien, ninguna regla está más arraigada en la mente del empresariado brasileño que la creencia optimista en la estabilidad inquebrantable del orden económico que lo sustenta. Por más que los impuestos suban, por más que crezca el poder discrecional de las organizaciones izquierdistas, por más que las propiedades rurales y urbanas sean invadidas, quemadas y destruidas; por más gente que muera en las calles, blanco de las balas de los agentes de las FARC; por más que la propia actividad empresarial sea maniatada y criminalizada bajo el peso creciente de los controles burocráticos, hay mucha gente en esta clase que insiste en repetir el lema: "Todo el tiempo, en todos los aspectos, todo está yendo cada vez mejor".
Comprendo que, en una sociedad caótica, sin valores tradicionales, ni mucho menos un orden público físicamente reconocible, la seguridad sicológica de tantas personas dependa del apego obstinado a ilusiones tranquilizantes. Pero cuando éstas caen, aquella seguridad se viene toda abajo de una vez. Es el pánico, la desorientación total, la parálisis absoluta ante el peligro presente. Entre una falsa seguridad y el pánico, existe, sin embargo, todo un rango de posibles reacciones diferenciadas, cuyo aprendizaje es la única esperanza de supervivencia en situaciones amenazadoras. Existe el estado de alerta, la atención redoblada, la anticipación a respuestas adecuadas, la preparación para acciones de emergencia.
En cuanto a nuestro empresariado, por no abdicar de la falsa seguridad –que en el fondo es miedo de entrar en pánico, y ya por eso es el mismo pánico disfrazado–, no desearán aprender a desarrollar las reacciones capaces de salvarlos del asedio general comunista que se anuncia para muy pronto.
